Interesting Coffee Shops in HCMC (P.1)
It was a comfortable morning when Saigon was less crowded than usual. I was the first stranger coming there.
That was a small coffee shop with special decoration, locating in a small street that was easily missed if we didn't notice. It reminded me of Hoi An ancient town - my favorite travelling stop with the outside wall in yellowish auburn. Stepping inside, I was impressed by old furniture arranged intentionally, even a broken wall. I was allowed to try the guitar on the wall. Metallic strings. At first I thought it would be painful when pressing on them, but after a short time, I got used to it. Sometimes, physical pain doesn't matter if our mind is busy caring about something else.
I ordered a set of bread with omelet and an iced milked coffee, then immediately regretted because the strong coffee made my heart beat like I had just finished a race. It tasted good anyway.
The way my breakfast shown interested me. Glasses, dishes, bottles, tablecloths and snacks... All called back an old time resting in memories. I was immersed in a kind of marvelous and familiar music. I guessed that music was even older than me. The most interesting corner of the coffee shop was the shelf where 3 old cameras were displayed. I asked the innkeeper for the permission to touch every of them :)
I love the way the coffee shop was named. A Vietnamese name. It means Our Home or My Home depending on how many people you want to put in. I prefer My Home since it sounded familiar and cosy. Everything is yours in your home.
FYI, this is a retro coffee shop on Truong Quyen st., D.3, HCMC. You may pass by this small street without notice. Then, just walk more slowly to spot out interesting places.
